if it were me, i'd get the 13 inch macbook pro......Not exactly a netbook, but almost as small lol...I take mine to school everyday and it doesn't even weigh nearly as much as a PC laptop.....

^^^ at least 2x as much don't think you can compare them....

i dunno too much about netbooks but i think they're pretty much all the same,

Simply computers to go online, not much for adding software etc.

I haven't heard anything "bad" from Asus EePC's to HP's to Acer,

not much help I know lol

I don't know how Asus is anymore, but in the beginning they were the smallest, but most expensive in the game. I purchased a 1st gen MSi Wind U100. Loved it. These are designed for web surfing, IMing, and thats about it. They are by no means powerful.

I've seen a lot of newer ones coming with Vista, if you can, I'd downgrade to XP or get Win7. Some come with Linux operating systems. If she don't know anything about Linux, I'd opt out on that.

I'd really focus on Acer, MSi, HP, DELL, and Gateway. Acer and MSi are my top picks. They are priced the best and offer bigger screens, 11.6" and below and offer bigger space and memory..

the newer ones come w Windows 7, 2GB of memory, and a bigger 6 cell battery and pricier and have higher resolution. 1300x 736 or something like that. such as this one

http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/16524/41/

the old ones come w windows XP. and its only 1200x600 or something like that. they have a lot on sale this friday around the 200 mark. i think i saw one at 150 but i forget where. they look like this.

http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/315657/Acer-Aspire-One-AOD250-1165-10/

brands depend on what you like but in the end. they're all the same. since she has a laptop and desktop already. id get her the 200 models.

i plan on gettin on myself after having seen and used one. they are super light and get the job done and much more portable than my 14" laptop. good luck shopping man.

I have an Acer Aspire One and I'm pretty happy with it considering I take it to school with me and everywhere I go. For gaming, I just get project64 and play N64 games :what:

i have a Acer Aspire One AOD150-1165 I use it everyday at work, checking email, forums, listening to online music, using the honda diagnostic software, i have itunes installed on it,stream hockey games here at home. works better than my desktop im on now! im happy with it so far...only thing is it kinda sucks to read emails and lookin at bigger pics on here and other forums. aka screen size is sometimes a problem. but i bought it because its easily portable. can use it at work, in the garage at home. its awesome!
