Hi civic owners, I was just wodering if anyone can give me any advice on how (if possible) to cover scratches on paint without having to spend the bling for a new paint job. I own an 06 Si in h. red and some idiot decides to be a hater and key my door to my headlight!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will post pics of the damage when I get a chance...

a keyed 06 si.. That's pathetic, people should show more respect. Meanwhile you can get some touch up paint from your dealer for about 5 bucks or so.

dude, its an 06... a big line of touch-up paint will look like s**t on that car... i say he needs to talk to his insurance and get the side resprayed... i know that sucks, but it will look the best and wont cost him a whole lot of $$$

I'd definately go with the insurance....how much is your deductible?
My deductible is $250. I'm going to go get a quote from Honda tomorrow to see how much it's going to set me back.

Depending on how deep it is, you're going to want to get it repainted. Since it was keyed more than likely that is the only way it will look right again.

i know about that....i've tried everything to get the key marks off mine, nothing ever worked. Just going to have to save up and get my baby repainted (which i guess i was planning on doing anyways). I'd like to have her redone in like maybe a black pearl kinda thing, but that's like 1500 bones i don't have right now......

get any quotes yet?
Went to see Honda today. They told me they're gonna try to polish it first to see if that will cover the scratch. Just that is goin to set me back $150. But if that doesn't help, they tell me that they're going to have to repaint. Since it's both the door panel and the front panel, it's gonna cost me about $800.

Can you feel the scratch with your fingernail? If you can it can't be detailed out. In fact there's a good chance that if you can feel it it's through the clearcoat, which means you don't want them to polish it out (clearcoat damage).

We have kits like those in the US too. If his car was actually keyed though, there is little chance this kind of kit or any other normal touch up paint is going to hide the mark. It will just make it look worse.

Yeah it definately will. Doesn't matter if it's one of those small nail polish like ones or the spray can ones. Better to have it all done. I'd just go through insurance, especially whereas it's only a $250 deductible. Just make sure the claim won't make your insurance go up first....those greedy cocksuckers..........
