can i boost on a non o-ringed head?

i had to take my head to a machine shop and they resurfaced it and completely removed the o-rings i had on each cylinder.should i have these put back on for added safety under boost or should i not worry about it?thanks.jesse

i would on my car if boosting 15-20 so yes to be safe and to be headgasket headache free.

im not sure if i got the o-ring name right,but im talkin about the metal rings that are put into the underneath of the head and goes around each cylinder to prevent any s**t from happening.

in the more serious aftermarket wourld when building a moded engine you can get the head or block o-ringed for added combustion sealing strength.

no sleeves,but its fully built along with a blockguard and the heads rebuilt as well.

piston rings. thats what they are... if the engine is fully built then you shouldnt need rings....

yea,i kind of thought i might not need them,but however the guys at the machine shop said they recommended puttin them back in if i was going back to boostin,which i am now.i just dont want to have to rip off the damn head again and spend more money,im already spendin a whole lot on a hondata to get this thing runnin again,

Totally, don't worry about a head gasket; just run a bead of caulk in between the head and the block.

ok,ive realized alot of ppl dont know what i am talking about,so i tried to draw a diagram around the head to show you where these rings go.and for god sakes im not talking about piston rings.
