cant shift, shifter moves freely help ?

97 civic the bar that goes from my shifter to my transmission is almost snapped in half its rusty i know i can most likley get one off a car at the junk yard or something but idk what its called or how i get it out i looked and theres 2 bars one has a screw going threw the end of it but this one doesnt so idk how to get it off is it something i can do myself i cant s*** the shifter just moves freely should i just part it out and start over i just put over 500 into this car

There's two bars. One is the stabilizer and one is the shift linkage. The actual linkage that goes into the transmission has a pin that holds it onto the transmission side. On the other end there is a bolt that goes through your shifter and holds the shift linkage onto it. The stabilizer has a bolt that bolts into the side of the transmission with a big washer. Which one did you break?

No it's pretty simple. The b**** pin can suck though. I just get a punch with a ball end (preferably) and hammer it out.

Eeeeeek! The bolts may be hard to get out. I would get some new ones. They should be in the diagram I posted.
