I have a Viper5000 and I got it installed at CarFi, I'm pretty sure it's a local place though. I don't remember what just the alarm cost itself, I had to have power door locks installed and it was a little oer 400 with the alarm and installation.
The actuall alarm cost a fraction that what the install does. For a basic alarm you are looking at about $100-$150 depending on what features that you do want hooked up.
For an autostart alarm about $200-$300 depending on the car and what interfacing modules you may need.
Now with that said this is the one peice I really suggest you have a shop do. Too many times I have heard " oh my friend does this all the time" Then his car is f**ked.
Will your friend buy you a new ecu if he f**ks up, cuz its really easy to do if he doesnt have the right tools
