Car hesitates at low rpms

Hi I have a 1988 civic hatchback that has been acting weird for a while but is becoming more prevalent. First off every once in a while it has a hard time starting. Secondly, whenever the car is under a load at low rpms it wants to bog out. If I keep the rpms higher around 3000 I have no problem. Any help or tips on what could be wrong would be appreciated. I checked the codes and it was throwing a one and I read that means it has a bad o2 sensor so I replaced that but still doesn't run right. Thanks

Try changing the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, check the air filter, and check the fuel filter!

Check all your vacuum lines. Could have a vacuum leak. I remember having a 92 avenger that would do that and if I stopped completely it would die turned out to be a bad egr.

I would also recommend a tune up as taluzer said, especially if there are no records of this being done recently. Vacuum leak also seems like a possible cause, try spraying starting fluid or carb cleaner on your vacuum lines. If the idle changes, you have a leak there.

This is an inexpensive way, most shops will perform a smoke test to locate the leak.
