Hey guys i have a problem my 97 honda civic ex will start perfect but when idle and i rev it a bit it gives off alot of smoke and i smell burned rubber from the engine. Tried driving it and it starts off good but when its shifting gears all of a sudden the engine starts giving small jolts like its not wanting to go a couple of times real fast. Then the car just will not want to move the engine revs when i push the gas but the car will not move. All the time this is happening im seeing white smoke from my exhaust. Car is not heating up not losing coolant i turn the car off and on a couple of times then it starts to drive again. Im lost would appreciate some help thanks

Clutch is slipping and the head gasket is blown.

Automatic transmissions slip as well.

Check the ATF level.

White smoke in exhaust, right? White smoke is burning coolant. Your engine oil can look clean when the head gasket is blown.

Makes plenty of sense. If the trans is low on fluid it doesnt have enough to go through the chambers and push the correct solenoids that it needs to shift or to apply power to the wheels (in laymans terms).

The smoke and the slipping transmission are not related.

My auto trans was acting up and it was low trans fluid. Check it.
