I know there are a couple members that have worked for ATT or currently work for ATT, so I'm coming here looking for help.

Currently, I pay $170 a month for cell phone service. We have 2 lines, both with Iphone 3GS'. Here is a break down of our plan:

1400 monthly minutes (Family Plan)
Unlimited texts (both phones)
2gig data (both phones)
3853 current rollover minutes

Paying 170 a month seems retarded to me, and ATT says the only other plan i can switch to is the 700 minute plan which is 17 dollars less than the 1400 minute plan. I just spoke with customer care and she said to switch to a family messaging unlimited M2M plan for 30 dollars then drop to the 700 minute plan. BUT, if my math is correct, I will loose 3153 rollover minutes and end up paying an additional 13 dollars

Anyone have any input that could help me?

$170 is expensive as hell but it's the regular rate for regular customers. My brother works for AT&T and I would only save about $20-$30 after taxes on an iPhone plan through his employee rate plan. AND I can only use a 3G AND it has to be purchased through AT&T (so I have to pay retail price for the phone with his employee discount).

How many of the minutes are you using mobile to mobile? Mobile to mobile is unlimited cross-carrier. So if you really don't do any non-mobile phone calls, you should drop down to 450 regular minutes. I don't know anything about family plans though... But like I said, if you really don't do a lot of non-mobile calls, rollovers minutes are useless.

The rep gave you good info. When you make the rate plan change. Tell the rep that you want to be able to keep the rollover minutes. They will prob say no. Escalate to a manager. Speak to them about you being a valued customer and that at this point you are considering contacting the better business bureau because you feel you are having your rollover minutes stolen from you. The bbb is a red flag for AT&T and reps have been trained to give customers that threaten contacting the bbb pretty much what they want. When I was trained by AT&T the moto was if the customer is not happy with anything give them rollover minutes. Every standard rep can give you like 2000 rollover minutes at their discretion. Usually standard reps don't like to do this because they deal with angry customers all day. So escalate to the manager and if you are the right mix of angry and polite then you should get all of your rollover minutes while switching to the lower rate plan.
