I have a 97 Civic with a short ram air intake and a OBX muffler, which might i add sounds great. Prob. is my check engine light keeps coming on. :letout: I've had it turned off several times and looked up the code. When i looked up the code it said "EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System)" I talked to some friends that have had their check engine light come on repetedly(sp?) and they said to check the O2 sensor but thats not what the code is so i discarded that idea. I have done some searches and kinda found out what the EVAP system is but if anyone has had this prob. or knows what i should do or replace I would love input. Thanks

I had the same problem when i got my car, the light came on and i had the same code. After i drove the car and idled somewhere like at a red light or something, i smelled gas fumes. I brought to my mechanic and he dropped the gas tank to see that the vacume hoses were disconnected. Idk my suggestion is to check your vacume hoses, or talk to somebody at the honda dealer or any mechanic and ask them what else that could be. It could also be the charcol canister too. It could also be as simple as getting a new gas cap. If the gas tank loses pressure that code will come up. First try getting a new gas cap and reset the ecu.
