So i was in my moms car the other day and it has these leds in the door handles, i thought that was pretty sweet, so i decided to add that to my car. i have a blue lighting theme in my car right now so thats the color i chose. i did the speakers light a while ago, but i never got around to putting up pics of it. i'm also about to do a DIY on how to make the speaker lights flash to you music,(3 different colors will flash to the bass, mid bass and rear deck respectively) anwyas here they are, let me know what you think. oh, and i also added some lights in the bottom tray. (sorry no pic of it at night yet)

I think thats pretty cool man. I usally dont like interior lighting, but i think that looks decently clean and not overdone with a huge amount of light.

yeah, currently the doors are a little bright, and so is the one near the cup holders, so im adding in some resistors latter to dim them a little bit. im also putting on some capacitors on the doors, that way when the power is turned off, they slowly fade off.

yeah, it was really nice out for a week, like 60-70s, and now its back down to -10-0 with a lot of snow coming, and i dont have a garage to work with, so it might be awhile. also im switching all my colors to red leds, since i have a red interior, so im waiting for those to come in too. i also need to figure out the wiring for the capacitors. lol, so it might be a while.

Not my style either but to each his own. That would definitely be a cool effect if you were trying to light the interior with blue.

I used to have 2x 6" blue led's under each front seat and I thought it was cool. I still think it's cool. But I wouldn't put it in my car again.

Don't Kia Souls have lights like that stock now?

:Dprobably, i think they have a red ring around the speaker that pulses to the bass in the music. and yeah, I'm just a noob at all this modification stuff so as some people have put it my tastes are a little underdeveloped lol. but right now this car is sort of a test vehicle so i can try out all the ideas i want and just go crazy, then by the time i get a nice car, ie stick, i will know what to do!:D

haha, funny story about that...dont do it. well, maybe, heres what happend. basically my radio has two outputs, quick connect banana plugs, and then the wiring from the harness. you can do it either way. Unfortunately you can run two at the same time, when i hooked up the system for the lights to flash, i used the banana plugs, well my radio stooped sending out power to the harness to conserve power, no use sending 2 signals right? so it doesn't work with my set up. now i think you could splice it into the harness, but i have not done that yet, and im probably not going to, idk, im tired of wiring my car lol. maybe one day, but dont get your hopes up lol.

So i have been doing a lot of research lately into how i am going to get this whole flashing lights to work. I think i have it figured out, using a simple tip 31 i can convert audio signals to 12v electric pulses, now this is easy, i have already had this working in my car. the problem is that too much frequency is hitting the leds, meaning they just light up all the time, basically, they flicker a bit but thats really all they do, so im trying to isolate certain frequencies, like the bass, wich on average is anywhere from 20-140hz, so im going to isolate 60hz and see what happens. to do this im going to construct a low pass filter, wich is actually really simple and just uses a resistor and capacitor in parallel. so if i combine that will my tip 31 transistor only the low frequencies will be converted to 12v pulses and so the leds should only light up on the bass hits. This idea can be extrapolated for all the other frequencies, high, mid, and low, Though i dont think that the leds would look all that cool if they were being hit with the mid and high, might just wind up being on all the time like before, anyways im going to hit up radio shack for some parts(dont want to wait for ebay lol) and see how it goes. hopefully if this works out i can have that diy i promised oh so long ago. anyways just an update of whats going on. peace.
