chipped p28 problem

i bought a "spoon" chipped ecu and it make the car run really rich.
it backfires loud.
what can i do to fix it?
would i have to change the chip out?

Take the car/ecu to a tuner near you and have them tune your car.

Or get a basemap chip that is actually made for your car.

usually chipping the p28 to run the b16, you will always have back fire. it happens because when it gets chipped it is set at amount of gas that should be given to your engine at any time. so unless you are tuned you will back fire.

That pretty much makes no sense what so ever.

The spoon/skunk2 chips are usually very rich. They disable the o2 sensor and other various sensors. If you get a properly made basemap the car should run almost as stock.
