Choosing a manifold

Building my custom turbo on paper and want to stick with an external wastegate. I am also shopping for manifolds, but have really found only ones that have the weld for the wastegate already on it. I know greddy manifolds don't because the turbos come with internal wastegates. If I get an external, do I need to only use a manifold that is not tapped, or can I put something over it or the opening on the turbo itself so I only have one wastegate opening. Don't want to end up buying the wrong thing once I find something I'm happy with.

Not really sure what youre trying to say, but if you want to run external, you DO want a manifold with a spot for the wastegate... If you get an internally gated turbo you can block off the internal gate and run an external...Im not sure if thats what you want to know...

I think I might have answered my own question. If I want an external wastegate, that means there is not one on the turbo itself, so I need the weld so that I can put it on the mani. If it's internal, the turbo already has one built in so there is no need for the opening on the manifold.

It's amazing what walking away from something and coming back and thinking about it again can do. Please correct me if I'm wrong though.
