Civic EX 1995: Question about the Horn

Hey guys how are you all doing? I have a quick question to ask. I was recently given a 1995 civic EX and saw that the horn buttons were missing on the steering wheel. i was wondering, are the buttons really necessary for the horn to work? or can i just press on the connection without them? thanks in advance your replies.

2) Buy horn buttons.
3) Install horn buttons.
4) Honk at drivers who are swerving and texting.
