SOHC = Single Overhead Cam
DOHC = Dual Overhead Cam
One has 2 cams and the other has 1
DOHC will be faster
Si's come with the DOHC while the rest come with SOHC. atleast here in the US. Canada has the Si which is like our EX so i think that has a SOHC and their Sir has the DOHC

Your civic EX (96-98) has a SOHC engine.

"DOHC is faster than SOHC" is an oversimplification.

If the engine size (ie 1.6L) is the same, then usually the DOHC is "faster" than the SOHC.

For example, if you look at the 2004 Accords, there is a 4 cyl DOHC and a V6 SOHC. I'd say the "SOHC engine" is the faster one in this case.

I dont think SOHC are always slower like you said. In that case i would go with the V6 but im not sure

I think we said things that agree with each other, not conflict.

DOHC own3s SOHC.....Sadly I have a SOHC...anyways, DOHC = 8000 rpm redline, 8200 fuel cut off, SOHC = 7000 rpm redline, 7200 fuel cut off
