Hi all,

Just wanted to check what your opinion would be on lowering a 93 Civic HB with 2.5" (F/B) and putting on 17" rims (205/40/17). I will also be putting on a Bomex-replica bodykit.

I thought I'd just go for the Arospeed 2.5" lowering springs (on original shocks), until I get the money to replace both the shocks and the springs. As for wheels I am going to go for the Arospeed RS23 in 17".

Any thoughts appreciated... (i.e. will there be any problems with this setup?)
Also, what do you think the ground clearance of the car will be after the lowering (and with the bodykit on)?

Thanks!

I want to do the same but mine is a 95 coupe. the only thing is with the original shocks you might have a problem of the wheels rubbing on the fender walls as the original shocks might not last too long, so change them as soon as possible or better yet wait and do it. I had this problem when i lowered my previous car which was a corolla, don't know if it will be the same but it's food for thought. Post what you have decided to do, i need ideas too.

2.5" drop on 17" rims wouldnt be that great of an idea...they would rub and u would go through tires very quick......why not just get some 15"-16" imo it would look better:lol:

or if you want to stick with 17's then just drop it about 1.5" to 2" won't rub if you have the good shocks! just depends on how low you want it to look.

the 205's more then likely end up rubbing no matter how low you go, just get a little less wide and it should be fine... or get the 15's 16's. 17's slow the car down too much anyhow

droping your car 2.5 inches is not only a bad idea because your tires will rub, but also because youll bottom out on everything if you get that body kit. and you f**k up the front of it over time. im buying 17's tomorrow and i only plan on droping my car 1.5

im droped about 1.5" and i have 17's and the only place i rub is on the inner side of the tire if i lock the steering wheel. if i go any lover than that my camber get all messed up and my tires start to wear big time. stay consertive until you can get the money to do it right.

Grand, guys. This is exactly what I was looking for. :D

After having a look at various cars with 17"s, 16"s and 15"s, I think you guys are actually right. The 17"s look very "artificial" on the Civic. Too big for the car. The 16"s look good, but finding a good model over here in Ireland is going to be hard. The 15"s should be easy to come by, and looks ok (not more than ok, though). :???:

If I am going for 16"s (which I want) I probably need to order them from the US. I am looking for a split-rim with gunmetal centre and silver lip. Anyone got any suggestions in a cheap price-range? Also, anyone got any ideas what shipping might cost from the US to Ireland?

Thanks!

i know shipping going to cost a grip, rims are pretty heavy and they have to go sea freight,

Seems shipping from the UK to Ireland was quite low ($150 for 4 wheels/tyres), so I have ordered 16" Team Dynamics Monza's. What do you think would be a decent lowering, considering I am not going to replace the shocks yet (just springs)? It's obviously also a matter of taste, but I don't want something insanely low, or seem like it's rolling on stilts either... just a normal lowering that looks good.

thats too much of a drop bro, 2.5 with a kit and 17s are way to much. I droped mine 1.5 and my kit is taking a beating!! So IMO 2 at the most, but that is pushing it too

thats what they invented camber kits for. the front kit is expensive, but the rear can be done with a single bolt from a hardware store. my car is lowered 4 inches and i have even tire wear. i have it tucked under the fenders on spoons 15". hella clean baby. just make sure you have the right amount of money, and you can do anything
