Civic Si CD Player Code and Activation

I got a civic Si cd player from my friend and he gave me the code to activate it because of the security feature. I put in the code... nothing. He blames it on my wiring s**t but my last deck worked fine, why cant this??? Anyways, is there some sort of trick or did he leave a number out of the code... 5 numbers he gave me

You should be able to put in the 5 digits and it should turn on immediatly. Does the deck say CODE across the face when it is plugged in with the key on..........if it does and all it does is beep a few times than it's the wrong code, and after the third time it locks the buttons and than you have to reset the battery..........................but if you don't see the C_O_D_E than something else in the wiring is wrong. I have a 97 Prelude Deck in my 93 Civic and it plugged right in and worked, but I called Honda for the CODE.
