ok so i just got my leather rsx seats finally.....they were in a warehouse type place,so they are kinda dirty.dirty in the sense that they've been sitting in a dirty,dusty,warehouse.......anyways,im gonna buy some leather conditioner, but in the mean time i was looking for a good way to clean them off initially.is soap and water ok,or simple green or something?i just dont want to ruin the leather,in hopes to prolong the life of these awesome seats

I'd use just plain water. If you think soap will be necessary , use something very mild and non-drying. I would not recommend soap though. Just leather cleaner and conditioner. Meguiar's has a nice cleaner/conditioner for it. I believe it's in a black bottle and has a leather-like scent to it too. I used it in my mom's PT Cruiser and it brought back the deep coloring to it that she had lost (her seat looked dry). Just wipe on and wipe off.

So, plain clean water for now, and cleaner/conditioner once you get some. ;) Then just try to keep them away from too much direct sunlight, harsh handling and abuse, etc. and you should be good for awhile. =)

thanks amy,you are actually the person i hoped to reply haha....but yeah, ill just wipe em down good with a wet washrag and then ill check out that meguiars cleaner/conditioner.these seats are out of an 02 w/32k on it,so they look really good if you ask me,i just want to be cautious so i can retain the color and quality =)

Nice. Sorry I'm not very familiar with these seats.... what color are they? If they look a bit dry, the Meguiar's stuff *should* bring back their luster. =) I'll try to remember to take a photo of the bottle I use for you tomorrow.

And, jeez... you could just PM me. :P  If you do need anymore help though, just ask and I'll do my best.

This should be about how the bottle looks. The company has been re-vamping some packaging lately though.

i was gonna pm but figured someone else might need this info one day........never know =) didnt wanna shelter the rest of the world from your knowledge;)

the seats are black, but acura calls them charcoal (aka interior color "D") :what: they do look a LITTLE "dry" on some edges here and there, but i dont think its really wear and tear,so hopefully that meguiars can help restore it a bit.i dont see a pic in your last post, but ill look around auto the wonderfull zone of auto tomorrow haha

Yeah, sorry.. TinyPic was being stupid. :what: Anyway, if you have any of that "perforated" leather (the leather with tiny holes on it), then be careful. I'd use just a cloth dampened with the cleaner/conditioner on that because otherwise it gets in the holes and you'll just see little white holes all over it.

Oh, and autobody supply shops are often great places to find all kinds of neat stuff, including detailing supplies. =)

welp,i got some Black Magic Leather Care Cleaner/Conditioner and i am VERY happy with the outcome.i wish i woulda taken pics before the cleaning, but they look GREAT now.however, upon cleaning them,i realized that both the front AND back had that "perforated" leather on parts of the seat, its kind of hard to keep it out of the holes, but it came out just fine=)

Those look nice. =)

Too bad I'm not as lucky and just found out I'm stuck with the '92-'95 (?) steering column that Black Lake Auto sourced from You Fix It. :(
