Cluster question

Hello,

My friend has a 2001 Acura 1.7 EL which is essentially a 7th gen Civic...

His cluster's engine light stopped working and the engine light appears to be an LED light attached to the circuit board... so it seems he needs a new cluster to get the engine light working again. Will a 2004-2005 cluster fit into his car? or does it have to be 2001-2003? they light up a bit differently (the 04-05 ones look nicer). Also, I just want to make sure that an auto cluster should also work in his car which has a manual transmission.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks!

thanks, thats a great writeup!

Any idea on whether or not manual and auto clusters are interchangeable?

i've seen many people put auto clusters in a manual transmission so shouldn't be a problem.

but if you put a manual cluster in a auto the only problem is, the reverse lights won't come on when of course you put the tranny is in reverse
