I drive a 2000 Civic Ex w/ a manual transmission. Recently I've noticed that it has become hard to shift into 1st gear. The stick doesn't seem to want to go all the way forward and it won't pop into gear. I took it into the shop, and the mechanic said the clutch is burned out. He said it would be $800 to replace. I've seen clutch kits online for as low as $200 online. Is this all I will need to fix a burnt out clutch myself, or are other parts required? Do the shifting problems I'm having even sound like symptoms of a burnt out clutch?
