Cold Air Intake

I have a 2001 Civic DX 1.7L and I was wondering which cold air intake would be the best for the money? Also, headers are in the near future so ideas on this as well. Will there be any modifications needed for either? Such as o2 sensors on the headers?

Why are you installing this stuff? It is not going to make the car any faster to be honest.

If you are going for engine bling, or noise, then by all means go for it.

Any eBay pipe and a good AEM or K&N filter will be sufficient for an intake. Not sure on the header though. You only have one btw

I'm not looking for power. I'm looking for fuel economy. I was looking into DC Sports Header and Cold Air Intake.

I'm looking for a cold air intake as well. I may go for the K&N 57 series. I have a Magnaflow header. I switched the O2 sensor to Bosch, but probably didn't need it. BE sure to unplug the battery. My engine light kept coming on for months until the computer reset the new O2 sensor. I'll Probably intal Magnaflow Catback soon as well. For fuel economy, but also for preventative maintainance. It's stainless steel. I recommend Bosch Platinum four prong spark plugs. They may cost about $8.00 a piece, but they last 100,000 miles, worth it! All this should improve fuel economy. Also change your batery every four years and keep the terminals clean.

Sounds like a plan. It has 151k on it when I bought it a week ago, but I doubt a 100k service was performed. What all would this consist of?

Cold Air Intakes wont do crap unless the engine is heavily modified. A drop-in K&N air filter will do well.

Dont go for Bosch O2s. Ive read in multiple threads the Bosch O2s arent nearly as durable as NTK (made by NGK). Speaking of which, NGK plugs are better as well. If you do change the O2s, you do not need to remove the battery. Obsequio, I suspect you might have incurred another issue you were unaware of that caused your CheckEngine Light to be on for months.

You can improve gas mileage through performance modifications. The way you drive after the mods makes the biggest difference.

Your also using a k series engine with engine management system lol. Technically a turbo charger can improve gas mileage

OP - Save your money and keep the engine bay completely stock if gas mileage is your goal. Civics are designed as economy cars, and you will be hard pressed to improve Honda's stock design.
