cold air vs. short ram intake

hey guys just wanted to know what you guys use and how you guys came up with the decision.
i am looking into it for my 92 civic
also looking for any pros/cons.

from what I've been reading about people making fun of short ram is that short ram is more for the sound and CAI gains a little power

You won't notice a difference with either one, but in theory CAI is better.

i had an aem short ram.. swapped my engine and i look at what they did and now i have a autozone short ram intake due to me getting a throttle body...ive always wanted a cold air but i fear hydro lock.. if u buy shity off name brand there is a chance for water to get sucked up from what ive read... but regardless on the Sohc engines u really wont tell much of a difference...

I have a CAI for more than 4 years. I prefer it over the Short ram intake. But when it rains around i make the effort to avoid big puddles

if you want water in your engine go with cold air intake lol

Not really a big difference. If you get CAI, just be careful when it's raining and avoid puddles.

They're just stupid pipes with stupid filters.

if youre not at redline most of the time then get a short ram
with a cai i couldnt launch jack and only got some power after 3k
for dd short ram is a lot more comfortable imo

I have an AEM CAI, and from my experience they take away power when at low RPMs, but they are great at high RPMs. Hydrolock isn't a huge issue unless you're slammed and constantly driving through water. If you get a CAI, look into putting a bypass valve on it. Bypass valves ensure that if the filter is submerged in water then the engine will pull air from the valve, not the filter.

Get a short ram if your worried about rain and puddles. Yes, in theory cold air is better but it doesn't matter that much.

yeah i had a V2 also and i only had power after 4k and no power at low rpms
it did sound nice, with the loud rumble 3-4k, then going into a nice roar
but on a SOHC, not very efficient overall

You can go cold air even if you live in and very wet enviroment you just have to use AEM's special coupler for cold air intakes....it will prevent you sucking water into your cylinders....is pretty neat. short ram is also way easier to install

On a SOHC its not gonna really make a difference with either a SRI or CAI, but with a short ram you get a nice screaming sound when ripping threw the gears! It also makes the vtec crossover louder to =]

Go with this ^ its a GREAT brand and its not badly priced at all. Affordable and when you open the hood you will add some pizazz haha They Have red and white as well, I got the white one.
