Before yaw read this....... Yes i did try searching and gogle but cant get a clear answer

Last week I Drove down to Richmond for ECHM and when I stopped by the 7 eleven my temperature was going up so I quickly got to the nearest auto zone and replaced my thermostat and fan switch hoping one of the 2 would solve my problem because the radiator has coolant to begin with and when I got back to my area I was at a McDonalds drive thru when again the temperature starts to rise up again.

so Could this be a head gasket starting to go bad? my friend thinks the fan is just going bad by not coming on when it should? My car is not throwing white smoke and not consuming coolant and oil is not looking light brown so what could it be?

recent maintenance to my 97 Civic CX with stock Y7
new timing belt and water pump 3000 miles ago
replaced cap
replaced radiator a year ago
Replaced all heater hoses and radiator hoses
did tune up like 7,000 miles ago
and just replaced thermostat and fan switch with 50/50 coolant

I mean I forgot to mention that yes the fan does come on when the car has been started up or after short drive and is there idling for more then 15 min. But when I'm getting off the freeway and come to a traffic stop and the temp starts to go up that when I haven't really been able to check if the fan is on

What i did was I let the car run with radiator cap off with the heater on and not circulating the air untill it started to sorta Flood up a lil and my fan came on some people are telling me to run the fan constant off the battery and go for a trip on the highway and get off and see if it still over heats when im at a light

Mine is doing the same thing. Changed the oil today and it was fine. Fan came on, but one time it was overheating as I was reversing into my garage and I hurried and popped my hood and my fan wasn't on. I think my fan is going, or the temp sensor it's going. I do have quite a lot of miles on it 227k. But I'm just as confused as you are.
