my buddy was asking me about converting his wastegate from the internal one to an external one. hes got an eclipse gst running 22 lbs of boost. i told him he needs to either get a new manifold or have a custom pipe put on to bolt the wastegate to and he needs to have the flapper welded shut on the internal one so it doesnt open up. he wanted to know if it would hurt the turbo i told him no but i just wanted to make sure. is this all that needs to be done to convert it?

Yup thats all you need to do. I did the same to my GReddy and its been just fine.
yup just weld it shut. i am doing that on my dsm 14b for my turbo kit
