Crank but no start

I need your help! My 89 Civic DX will not start. I was driving home and the engine just shut off. I tried popping the clutch without luck. Got it towed home and I can't figure it out. I have spark. Fuel sprays at the filter when I turn the key. The main relay gives three clicks. The timing belt is not broken and I am not getting any codes from the ECU, just the one blink to let me know it's there. I tried pouring a little gas in the throttle assembly and it still wouldn't start. The plugs, wires, distributer cap, rotor inside the cap, valve cover gasket and grommets inside have all been changed this year. A few months ago it stopped starting by the key. If I turned the key to the run position I could start it by jumping the starter with a screwdriver. Because of this I installed a push button on the dash. I just turn the key to run, push the button and then turn the key to off whenever I arrive wherever. This has worked fine. Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Just a shot in the dark...it's your rigged starter button. If it is the only thing modified within the ignition, it is a big red arrow pointing to it being the cause of the problem. I would 100% start there and would get the ignition back to the way it was meant to be. Ghetto rigging stuff never seams to work out in the end and it is usually the reason for the problems.

Thanks lethal6 and my93civic. I didn't mess with the ignition switch when I put the push button in. I bypassed it altogether and ran wires from the starter to the dash for the button. I just figured the clutch safety switch had gone bad. Is there any way to troubleshoot the ignition switch without buying a new one?

Just to be clear, the starter is still working. Is it possible the timing belt jumped? I'm totally stumped :/ When I turned the engine over today I got a "blow back" out of the throttle body like a misfire. I didn't pour any sort of fuel in the throttle body.
