cruise control

my 99 civic lx has cruise control. but the other day when I went to press cruise control it wouldn't turn on. I tried pressing the button again and again and nothing. I changed fuses and still nothing. 1. how does cruise control work and 2. is there something i'll need to replace to get it working again?

well u turn it on with the button on the side then activate it with the buttom on your steering wheel

yea i know. i've used it before obviously. i meant mechanically how does it work under the hood. I've tried turning off and on both switches and still nothing.

Idk if this thread is dead or not, but I've noticed this same issue with my '97 LX. Activate the side button, but the steering wheel buttons have zero affect. Replaced fuses, no results. Any ideas of what to try next??

There are cruise control switches on both the brake and clutch pedals. Check whether the rubber stopper that presses on the switches is damaged or has fallen out.

Seems to me there's an issue with the cruise control of the civic. Even the LX 2001 has issues with the cruise control. Honda should be looking to this.
