You can check to see if the axle is bad by jacking the car up, wheels off the ground, grabbing the axle and try shacking it. If it raddles, its bad. I don't know if the videos on YouTube tell you or not, but be sure to have plenty of Honda co. Trany fluid. When you pull the axle out, it will leak the fluid out, so have a drip pan near by.

We just changed the CV Axles in my son's 92 Civic EX Sedan. It was straight forward job, though be sure to have new lower control arm ball joint seals. The seals were torn/worn already, but if they weren't they would have been after we used a tie rod separator; otherwise known as a pickle fork. If you have or have access to a tie rod end puller, that will reduce the chance of ruining the seal. Note, you don’t need to totally remove the lower strut fork to remove the axle. Just remove the lower bolt to the lower control arm and the ball joint on the lower control arm and the rotor/hub assembly can swing out of the way.

Another tip; the staked 32mm axle nut can be a beee-yatch to break free. In the past with this and other CV axle changes if we didn’t have a heavy duty impact wrench, we would break the torque with the car weight on the front wheels. If you have wheels with a center hub cap that can only be removed from inside, remove the wheels, pop the cap out, install the wheels, lower the jack to put weight on the wheels, then break the torque on the nut; of course only after the steak has been undone.

it's easy

instead of using a pickle fork, use a hammer and hit the knuckle from behind at the outer tie rod seat and it'll pop right out without tearing.

I've done axle replacements in 30 minutes in the driveway, it's pretty straight forward.
