D build up

So lately I've been sitting here looking at my torn down car. Just put a new oil pump, water pump on and the timing belt and head gasket are sitting there waiting to be slapped back together. So, the head is off, the pan is off, the pick-up tube is off. Basically a block w/ some jugs.

Debating spending my cash on putting pistons/rods in and having the head p&p, 3 way valve job, resurfaced, new valve guides installed and a turbo regrind on the cam. That will all cost around $1800.00 or so. Right now I'm pushing 197whp @ 12psi on a D.

Think putting that all together and running 15-18psi would be ok w/o sleeving??? I think it would, seen it done, but I'm skeptical.

Also would that give me close to 250-300whp in your eyes???
If it adds 50+ its a decent $ to hp ratio.

I know: fast, cheap, reliable: pick 2---just looking for some opinions.

id say sleeve it out to 1.7 or 1.8, that is if you can. if you dont want to get that crazy, then id say do what you listed. dont lower your compression, its fine where it is. if you are going to get new cams, you might wnat to look at new valve springs and retainers.
