Can anyone tell me, will an exhaust made for the 6th gen VTi fit a 6th gen d15 vtec-e?? What is the best sounding exhaust/system (not too expensive)?? I have the anoying D15Z6 model with 3 stage vtec-e and finding parts is extremely hard.

Ps. anyone know if I can fit a y8 head to the D15Z6??

they should fit, but ask ahead when u buy the exhaust, the piping is the same for the 1.6Vti and 1.5iLS.....
Try
Spoon N1 exhaust @ £295 www.spoon-europe.co.uk
Invoauto Back boxes from £ 290 www.invoauto.co.uk
Rage Exhaust @ £160

Try the spoon, it may only have a tip of 65mm (2.5"), but it sounds low and bassy at low revs......but it sounds so gud at the VTEC zone.........

3-stage VTEC or VTEC-E

It has nothing to do with the original question, but as far as I know, there is no such a thing as a 3-stage VTEC-E.

There is the "plain" VTEC, with 16 valves open at low rpms and the wild cam lobe in action at high rpms. VTEC-E engines have 12 valves open at low revs and 16 valves open at high revs.
3-stage VTEC is a combination of plain VTEC and VTEC-E.

3-stage VTEC engines have 2 VTEC actuators located at the side of the head assembly (for the two shifts between the 3 stages). My 1997 EK3 hatch has a d15z6 engine, but I can see only one VTEC actuator. This means that the d15z6 cannot be a 3-stage VTEC, it is rather a VTEC-E.

Any comments are welcome.
