so i wanna turbo my d15b7 with a z6 head but i have been reading that the stock block wont handle more than 170 hp. a lot of people say swap it for a d16 but in my position i feel its not worth swap it cuz the motor has about 1000 miles on it fresh rebuild so im thinking internals. i cant find s**t about these FJT rods people are talking about and everybody is saying 1000 bucks for a good rod piston set up does anybody know anything better????

I'm not aware of very many aftermarket pistons for the b7 bottom end. If you find anything, let us know. I have to agree with what others have stated and suggest upgrade the bottom end to z6 if possible. If nothing else, it's balanced better straight from the factory than our b7 blocks/internals, and as you know there's a heck of a lot more support for internals/parts.
I'm rebuilding my spare b7 into a mini me as well. However, I'd be a little concerned about boosting something that already has a higher compression than stock. Hope you're looking to go conservative on the boost? Or are you looking to lower your compression first with the piston change?

the more i look into it the more i think its more worth it to just do a z6 swap. yes the compression is all ready higher than oem and ill say right now if i learned anything about my car in the last year is dont be an idiot and dont try and get a away with power you cant support. im honestly looking into trading my honda now for something clean with a stock d16z6 because i think it would be a better route than doing the z6 block swap. what does anyody else think though i dont really know what the numbers would be to do it i just know i would probably pay someone to do it because i dont yet have the knowledge to tear into my motor like that.

btw i have saved up about 2000 and was ready to do 7 psi on a turbo until i found out b7 rods and z6 rods are very different what do you guys think is it cheaper to just try and get to 160-170 on all motor mods or just really low boost on a turbo kit fyi as you can see im definitely just throwing out ideas right now lol thanks

I think if staying single cam, then go ahead with a z6, make sure all the seals/etc are good, and then perhaps a low boost. I'm kinda suprised no one else has commented. We're not shy around here when giving our opinions. Perhaps you may want to look around at the forum search, see what others have done and the results they got (did their car ultimately blow up?)
