Boosted B will have more power than a boosted D, obviously. But you'll also be spending more money for the swap and then boost if you go B.

turbo d.....there's way too many with super high numbers off of a boosted D and its always cheaper building a d than a B.

+1 for turbo d

good luck DDing a 500hp d series.

JRSC and bolt-ons, tune a B and your at 250-300 and its reliable.
JRSC and tune a D you might get up to what a stock B series puts out and its reliable.

Any fully built motor with 500+ hp is going to be really really hard to make consistantly reliable. Depends what you need the car for.

B swap it, then if its not fast enough, turbo it.

It's all about money. It's obvious a turbo B is better than a turbo D, but a turbo D is better than a stock B.

Getting a B will cost you alot, and for what, so you end up with a stock B? Forget tha man, spend the money on the D, and you'll definitely have alot more fun with that engine, unless of course you have enough money to buy a B, build it for boost, and boost it.

A D16 with eagle rods $280, vitaras $130, ARP head studs $90, ACL Race bearings $100, Cometic HG $70, and w/e else you might wanna throw in is gonna cost you wayyyyyy less than a B with the equivalent parts.

everyone isnt shooting for 500whp out of a d or a b series for that matter, the point is is that its possible and for a lot less than a b. 250whp is more than enough for the average honda dd

Just turbo the D... it can still put down enough power to satisfy!

Great thanks guys , ya ill probably get the turbo in and then maybe work on some internals get the boost up to around 15 , i think i could run about 8 on stock internals with a good turbo set up.

But yeah im thinking about staying with my D series after all that .

Agreed! I'd be VERY HAPPY with boost and pushing 250whp. You get the turbo sound, you get kicked back in the seat, etc, etc, its much more fun and cheaper...
Unless you're one of those guys who just wants the most amount of hp you could have just to say "I gotta civic pushin 545 to the wheels" only to blow it within a year... I'd rather have 250whp for a few years prior to it giving problems..

Oh, and I've heard of guys with Ds making around 400whp w/ stock internals but I would NEVER try that! Just imagine the PIA of fixing that, even if you already have all the parts... And I got all those parts (in my previous post) and I'm only N/A... I chose to go that way cause of my future plans to boost....

Another thing, building a D, regardless if its for boost or not, is a great opportunity to learn how engines work and how everything works. Then if you ever choose to go B, as time passes, parts will be cheaper, you'll have more knowledge, and have less down-time while building.

since you have the D, might as well stick with it. as long as you are looking for a DD that has some GO.......a turbo D will handle that plus some. id suggest a good solid bottom end build though. just adding low boost(say 5 psi) increases combustion chamber pressures ALOT, then if you go with more than that(say 10psi) thats a huge increase in pressures . gotta make sure you have rings that are sealing good, and ur pistons, rods, and crank are gonna hold up. other than that...........should be no problem.
