Now i read up on this and am very interested and have a Y5 so im trying to work with it.
Y5 + with Y8 ecu + Y8 I/M + Vfac
Y8 ECU - So my ecu no longer looks for EGR and dismisses 3 stage vtec. Also dont have to convert to obd1.
Y8 I/M - Flows better? and no more egr connected.
Vfac - To set vtec to 3000rpm ( around factory for Y5). Also so that i dont have to ride on 8 valves until 5k rpm to finally hit the end stage of vtec.
Y5 head - roller rockers to deal with long vtec engagement and a nice factory vtec lobe.
Will this work? Are the maps going to be too different with the Y8 ecu? I read a build and the guy didnt
have a full y5 set up and was messing with harnesses and older cars.
Also will have a ex trans. Im looking for a bit of a gain, but will it backfire and make me lose my low end?
In theory basically have the more aggressive lobe engaged from 3-7k rpm where as if i did a mini-me y8 and bought a whole head and have the less aggressive cam from 5.5k-7k. will it be more beneficial or just more complicated? sorry if im beating a dead horse.
