hi so i'm trying to change my oil pan on my d16y7 automatic it's a 1998 civic dx and the oil pan seems really stuck..here is a recap of what i did just so you know where i'm coming from.

i removed the down pipe on the exhaust to better gain access to the oil pan bolts.

i removed the engine stiffener (the bracket between the engine and trans) to gain access to the oil pan bolts

and i also removed the torque converter cover just to get it out of the way.

I removed all the nuts and bolts on the oil pan (10 nuts and 8 bolts is that correct?) and whacked it with a mallet yet it still won't come off. i guess i was holding back a little for fear of damaging the oil pan. should i just go to town on it?

any tips?

also does anyone have the torque specs for the torque converter cover?

Ya. ^
Pry it off. The old gaskets tend to cook the pan on.

Makes it real fun getting all the old, burnt gasket cleaned off before you install the new one.
