hey guys, i recently blew a rod in my 99 ex (d16y8) so i plan on dumping about 2-3 grand in it. I plan on doing the regular I/H/E, then running 12:9 comppresion. would it be a good idea to get rods, and pistons? i know i know, why not just buy a dohc? well for the fact that i love single slammers, good on gas, and they have pretty damn good acceleration. would it be best to put a z6 head on my y8 block? then bore it out?

Do a B swap, they all get good mpg. Spending all that money to stay NA will just make you a hair quicker than a stock B. I'm all for going FI on single cams but that's it. If you really want to stay single just pick up a used motor and call it a day. Running high compression isn't as simple as putting pistons in. You are going to need a good full tune to make it run well.

This.

And a b swap is faster than your d16Y8.

This. Why in God's good grace would you spend that much rebuilding a D when with that you could do a lightly built B series? I spent about 2500 on my GSR build and I'm extremely happy with it.

i would get a h22 because they are pretty cheap but u need harneses and mounts for it to fit and with i/h/e over 200hp right there.

This too. The reason I say B is because H series parts aren't as interchangable and easy to find.
