Hi everyone. Im new to the forum. My name is Derek and I need a bit of help.
Recently my brother over heated and warped my 97 civics hg. It was a full EX engine d16y8. I found another head cheap, non-vtec d16y7. I did the hg and swapped on the new head (the old vtec head had bad valves and I didnt want to rebuild) so now the car runs great! But it idles at 1.2k rpm. I replaced the iacv, checked for vacuum leaks, and I let the ecu reset. Still no luck. Any ideas why this thing still idles high? On the new head, of ccourse there is no place to mount the vtec thing, so I just placed it in the engine bay, and left it plugged in. Help please! This high idle is irritating. The idle just sits at 1.2k.
Do I need a new d16y7 ecu? Will the y8 ecu totally throw off the y7 head?
Do I need to rewire the iacv?
Should I keep checking for vacuum leaks?
Whats going on?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!
