i was wonderin if anyone has taken the guage cluster apart, and changed the lightbulbs inside of it to another color...and if so...what size bulbs are they...i was thinking about changing them to red..cause thats the color of my car..but i want to make sure i can get them at work before i decide to take that ish apart...let me know!!

you dont have to take the dash apart...it's minor screws, yuo can see them all from the guage cluster. once you take the black housing off there are 4 more behind that, remove that, unplug the harnesses and see the lights.....

yeah...i know how to take it apart...but i was asking if anyone knew the size of the bulbs...and how many there are...so i can make sure i can get them before i take it apart.

honestly i have tried to figure out the size of those for so long that i gave up, i also did mine red and i just went to autozone, they have little jelly slide overs that work just as good, they also have them in all other colors, some people even paint there bulbs... not to be ghetto or anything, but it does work, and you have to use fingernail paint, goodluck

There's at least one other post having to do with guage lighting recently. I believe the smaller bulbs are #74 and you can buy them at http://autolumination.com/74.htm for $0.99 each in several different colors (thanks to anekin007 for the link). I'm not sure what the two larger ones are, but I saw the number 158 on one of them. I didn't see 158s on that site though, you might be able to find them at Autozoone.

from what i remember.. there are two bulb sizes you can use.. 74 and 24..i think the 24 are the bulbs for the climate control and buttons.

Actually, if we are talking about the actual guage cluster, I believe on the 96-98s there are eleven #74s and two 158s. Not sure about any other years....

i'e changed my own lights b4... and there were 2 94s, and 2 74's....
these 4 bulbs are what give light to the cluster...
the other 74 bulbs other then the 2 listed are for other read outs ie no seatbelt and hand break...

yeah..i just wanted to know the size...and autozone = bad...cause i work for schucks...i looked through the chilton's manual...and it shows how to change em...but dosent give any part numbers or anything....it seems like you guys are in the same boat as me...cause i keep getting mixed bulb numbers...i might just have to take it apart and find out for myself.

i used colored dry erase markers for overhead projectors theres a bunch of colors and if you dont like the color just run it under some water it comes right off and color the bulb a different color...

well i've ordered the bulbs myself from the net... 2 - 74 and 2 - 194...
ordered, installed, and working...

not even worth painting really, unless you want a colour other then green, red, blue, yellow, or white...
case you can just buy leds for a couple bucks, and they are brighter then normal bulbs...
if you want pink or something, paint them...
if nto buy them... superbrightleds.com i think is where i bought mine...

how do you get behind the climate control to get to the bulbs. i really want to change them to blue cuz the stock white just isnt cutting it n stuff. so any tips on how to do that will be greatly appreciated!!!

hmm i tried doing that on my ex cluster too.. i couldnt find the bulbs for it.. lol.. so i just ended up buying a 99si cluster.. amber light up is nice..

doing what? just the bulbs that do the lightup? if you look in the diy for guage colour change... i show exactly where the bulbs are...

Forget the Chilton's. Just get a Helm's. Tells you everything about your car. I'm very surprised that so few people have this. Its a great book. 4000 pages. Its the same manual that the Honda dealerships use.
