Dashboard Lights

Hi...when i depress the brake pedal the dash board lights come on as do the dipped headlights...this happens whether engine started or not....what could be the problem...loose wire ,fuses..pls help...Many thanks Guyscar is a 2000 civic 1.4

You may have a short some where. The brake light signal could be shorting into your running lights. Try checking the switch for the brake pedal that activates the brake lights, if the wiring has a short it could be turning the running lights on when activated. My brothers old integra did something similar where the brake lights stayed on due to a short.
