decided to boost

Alright so I can't find a B16A2 anywhere. I wanted the A2 so I could keep my 99 ej8 OBD2 for emission purposes. So I think Im going to boost my D16y8. My questions:

1. I am looking to hit 190hp, maybe 200hp but no more since I want to keep this engine as long as possible
2. Internals, what should I look at changing. I need to replace a piston ring anyways so I figure I'll do some internals
3. Can I keep my power steering pump and fog lights? Ive been told they would interfere with the Intercooler pipes
4. With the turbo will I need pass emission tests? Will I have to change from OBD2?
5.All said and done, with the tune, what are some ball park prices I will be spending

Thanks for anyone who helps me out, Ive been researching but specifics are hard to find.

it will be a lot better if you convert your car to obd1 because it is easier to tune.

Forget passing emissions then: OBD1 in an OBD2 vehicle= no. Edelbrock kit is the only one that will allow what he is asking for. (In a ready-to-go package that is)

You can piece together a kit, it will be a lot cheaper. But you seem like the guy that would buy a kit. There's many kits out there that are compatible with AC and PS, mostly it's in the manifold, the PS lines shouldn't effect the intercooler too much, just have to get the right sized intercooler. A kit will run you 3-4g, and will be faster than a stock b16a2. As far as internals, for 190-200whp you could run stock. It's not an extreme amount of power, but the D rods are the weakest piece in the motor. My suggestion would be just replace the ring with a stock one, and get some stronger rods, I believe b16 rods work with a tiny mod. Check out www.turbod16.com and www.d-series.org those sites will tell you tons about boosting a D.

My suggestion is to find "someone to pass you". Almost every turbo charged Honda I know about in my area has a "friend" that helps them pass emissions. You will save a ton of money with those low hp goals by piecing together a kit and going OBDI. Hell you could even run a OBDII piggyback contoller with those numbers and not have to worry to much.

an obd1 motor can easily be configured to pass an obd2 inspection with a little bit or wiring.

is there any way of keeping my car OBD2 with a turbo??
****I'm posting under my friends name. I own a BMW 328i and have a brother in the process of turboing his 535i so I know some of what it takes****

Yes, you can keep obd2 and have a turbo. It's all about the tuning. It's harder to tune OBD2 and takes more time. Not many individuals can do it. But search around and you can find vendors that can. Check out Horsepowerfreaks e46 m3, its obd2 and is crazy. I know a few people that have converted back to OBD1for turbo purposes because its just so much simpler to tune.
