just should have gotten real CTR's. they dont look anything like the real thing. props on doing it yourself tho..

fyi: ek9 headlights are a gunmetal color and they dont have an amber reflector on the sides...

As others have said, true CTR headlights are gunmetal on the inside and still have a highly reflective finish. I was wondering this about myself and looking over gunmetallic paint to see if any might give the desired effect, but decided it wasn't worth chopping up my stock headlights. And as someone said, it would still lack the clear reflector as opposed to amber.

Regardless, it looks like you did a clean job, but personally I would have just saved for legit CTR headlights.

Definitely should have sprayed them with gunmetal paint or at the very least....some of the smoked paint so that it would look like the smoked chrome that come on real CTR's.

Looks like your headlights could use a good buffing too.

:rolf:

Looks far from CTR. Should've added "style" after the word "CTR" in your thread title. OEM > DIY black housing

Yeah sorry for the "false alarm" but thanks for the comments. I plan to save for real CTR headlights but I had the paint already from something I was planning on doing on my last car and I'd rather put my good money into engine/suspension and wheels for now.

I've always wanted to see if someone would use VHT niteshades to get that smoked look....

black housing headlamps using vht night shades

ok so i have been reading about this diy "black housing" headlamp mod. i love the look of it and i love how it emulates the TypeR lights. but upon further reading and research i found that the tru TypeR lights are infact not black at all, its more of a very reflective dark transparent ambery tint! so.....having read that im going to attemp to use vht night shades in place of a paint. my car is a silver 05 lx. and my ultimate goal is to try and create what i think honda should have with the 7th gen coupe. a "typeR" im sure imma get flamed by some and props from others but hea, everyone has the own taste. so lets hear what you think!
