Differences between Si and other hb's?

Hello, I'm new to the board and I'm doing some research on buying a 5th gen. hb. What is the difference between the the Si and the other hb's other than the vtec engine in the Si? I know that the overall body style is the same, but did the Si come with any significant extra options? Body-color door handles, mirrors, side moldings, ABS, sunroof, etc. The engine is not that important to me since I'll likely be doing a swap of some sort. Just want to know if there are any other options to look for.

I also noticed that the Si is a bit heavier than the other trim levels, is this just due to the different engine and tranny, or are there other factors that affect the weight? Thanks in advance.

SI has a DOHC engine the rest is SOHC

DOHC= dual over head cam
SOHC= single over head cam
thats the major difference.

i thought the 5th gen hatch SI only has sohc vtec??

the SI also has 4 wheel discs.. and a sunroof if im not mistaken???

The 5th gen si have the same engine as the ex. They all have 4wheel disc brakes, sunroof, power mirrors, power door locks, and very very few of them have abs. Actually, only a small number of the 94s have them!

Thats wrong, the 5 gen Si's powerplant is the SOHC D16Z6 same as the Ex, Dohc was not seen in USDM Civic till 7th gen 99-00' Si Civic Coupe.

snatched right from the sticky at the top of this section. no USDM hatch had power windows or locks. its the stuff like sunroof, rear wiper, and other features that make it heavier. but its mostly sought after for the fact it has 4wheel disc and the sunroof (the reasons im still searching for an si)

My CDM 95 Si Coupe has no power windows or locks... I got power mirrors and sunroof/moonroof tho

theirs a site, i think its 5thgenhb.com somthing like that, has every thing about 5th gen hatches.

they do only got the SOHC

Don't worry about the SI. Just get another hatch, swap the engine for a B16A2 and do a brake conversion. That way you'll be running 160 crank hp while a stock 5g SI is 125.

yeah if your going after luxury and not concerned about 1/4 mille for for a si, if your going for performance get the cs or dx.....those things mad light...and with swap any how motor dont matter

if ur gonna auto x, the si is nice for the abs and 4 disc breaks.

Thanks for all the replies, you've been helpful. So it sounds like its just the 4-wheel disk brakes and the sun roof that make it an Si, aside from the engine and tranny.

Is the tranny hyrdraulic or cable?
