dim/cluster lights not working

my cluster lights isnt working,i just bought the car and only now i rode it at night,i was trippin out when it didnt have any lights.its a 00 civic ex.how do i diagnose this problem?thinking about fuses but idk which is which.need some help.thanks

Mine also did this and my dimmer switch had went bad... Got a new one and they haven't gone out any more

how do you check if the dimmer switch/adjustment still good?

i mean its not blown,the wire inside is still intact

You can't always see that a fuse is blown. Use a test light to check the fuse as described at the Test Fuses link in my signature.

If the fuse is fine, pry the dimmer switch out of the dash and short the red wire to the black wire with a jumper wire in the free connector. Do the lights now work?

i dont have a test light,i connect the red and black wire,and connect them into which connector??

pull the switch and tap it...if ur lights flicker with the tapping then the switch is bad .....mine did this too

quick update/question..i forgot to include that i installed a new deck.when i bought the car it didnt have a deck..
by any chance,could the installation of the new deck affect the instumental lights?because the ac nob,defrosser,cruise control,all of the lights on the climate control works....

Make sure the cluster connectors are fully seated.

just opened up the cluster,cuz i tried the switch on my friends car and it works on his.i found out the bulbs was blown so i went to checkers and bought bulbs,idk if its the right one but it fits...and still lights isnt working,so its the wirings??or whats the bulb number for this car???
