Do all ECUs have an LED light?

Sorry guys if I am reposting anything, but I couldn't find a matching article on here. I have another Civic with the common problem of not cranking after running fine.

The car sat for a week(been driving fine for years) and I cranked it up a few days ago to head into work and it just suddenly cut off(no spitting or sputtering...just cut off).

I have since checked all fuses under dash and hood, timing belt, main relay, ignition module in dizzy and the ignitor. The dizzy is not getting power to the plugs, but everything checks out fine everywhere else.

My CEL never came on before and comes on and goes off as normal before I crank it, but nothing happens. The car just turns over and over. I read somewhere online that the ECU should have a red LED to flash codes or atleast to signify that it is getting power. Do all '97 DX Civic coupes have an LED or can I not find it? I even opened the ECU up and couldn't find anything.

Any help would be great!

OBDII ECUs don't have an LED.

You can get an OBDII car scanned for free at any Autozone.

You can also do the "paperclip trick" on your car. That meas you jump the 2 pin connector on the passenger side next to the glovebox and count the flashes from the CEL on the cluster.

But... since you have no CEL you don't have any check engine issues. You can't pull codes unless you have a CEL (given that the light bulb works, etc.).

yea..I jumped the two pin connector and the CEL light just stayed on...never flashed....I would love to have it scanned, but being that I can't drive it...its rather hard to get to a scanner on it.

This thing has totally stumped me...thanks for the input tho.
