Ive got a b18c1 block with ITR pistons and a B16 head, i did this to prevent myself from ever going turbo cuz its more money, but now i cant resist. Is the compression ratio to high in my engine for a turbo and should i look into getting a thick head gasket before i do it?

I put the engine together two months ago so the gasket is new and so are the head bolts, but i can sense a little oil leakage runnin down the block if its not the head gasket i guess i will leave that alone. Ive just always thought that 11:1 compression isnt boost friendly.

get rid of those pistons. change your compression to 9:1 and you dont need a thicker headgasket. if you get p72 pistons then a thick headgasket would be nice to have.

well im not totally sure that my CR is 11:1 but thats what someone told me it would be cuz i have the gsr block crank and rods with ITR pistons and a B16 head, does that CR sound correct?

you should be able to find some info on hondatech that should steer you in the right direction about what your compression is with all the diff parts your using.

good call, i found this link http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/compcalc/compcalc.php
so if i can find a head gasket that has a thickness of 0.06 of an inch then my CR should be 10.07, would this not fix my delima?

or maybe just this http://shop.edoperformance.com/hks-metal-head-gasket-for-acura-integra-gsr-typer-9201-and-honda-civic-del-sol-vtec-9497-9900-compression-ratio-858-p-4934.html

using a thick headgasket to lower compression is like slapping a HUGEE bandaid on a severed limb and hoping it holds. its not the right way to go about things. if you want to change your compression around look for a new set of pistons or more extreme case a new head. but a set of low comp pistons will do you just fine.

stick with a new oem headgasket.. oem was built right the first time, im boosting daily on an oem headgasket and arp headstuds for a year and a half, not a single issue. setup is a y7/y8 mini-me running 9.9:1 compression.

goodluck!
