Does this amp match this sub

Hey Everyone. I think it matches but I need someone to confirm it please. I have the following:

Sub: INFINITY 1030W - ONLY 1 sub, not 2
Specs:
RMS: 250
Impedence: 4 ohms
Peak power handling: 1000 W

Amp: MTX 6500D Mono
Specs:
At Input Voltage 12.5 volt :
RMS Power at 4 Ohms 250 W x 1 *** does this apply to me?***
RMS Power at 2 Ohms 500 W x 1 *** or is this for my sub? ***

At Input Voltage 14.4 volt:
RMS: 2 Ohm Load 775 w x 1
RMS: 4 Ohm Load 450 w x 1

Question I have are as follows please:
- is the sub and amp combination good, as in will it be enough not to blow my sub and give good sound. Please remember I have only 1 sub, not two.
- is it fair to assume that with normal battery and alternator on my civic, the voltage for me is 12.5, not 14.4
- should I be looking at the "RMS Power at 4 Ohms 250 W x 1 for 12.5 volts" as a match for my sub, which has an impedence of 4 ohms.

Your replies will decide my purchase. I hope I get some good feedbacks. Thanks everyone.

i'd say it would be fine but don't get crazy w/ the volume knob  for one 12" i'd look into the JL w6 or the kicker L7 which would handle that + and you'd still be around the same price range

That isnt a great match but will work just fine. I believe with the car on you run 14.4-13.9, which are most amps recc power input. However, I would be sure toi turn the gain down to about 3/4 so you dont cook your sub.

Or sell that sub and get another at about 500RMS.....that would be a better match.

Oh really 14.4 volts? I thought with regular battery and alternator every car pushes 12.5 volts? wrong?

Thanks for all your inputs.

Ok so what is the best amp rms to look for? Should I be looking based on the 4 ohm specs since my sub is 4ohm impendence?

That is a perfect match, if your sub is 250w RMS the best possible match is an amp that's 250w RMS at that impedence.

Simply hooking up + and - on your sub and amp will give you a 4ohm impedence.

but everybody did fail to ask, is the sub SVC or DVC? if it is 4ohm DVC you cannot create a 4ohm impedence.

GREAT point. Thanks. I looked it up, and it is SVC..so it can creat 4ohm impedence.

So now that I know I should look at my RMS based on 4ohms, can you tell me if I should look at it based on 12.5v or 14.4 volts?

Thanks.

with your car off it produes 12.5v and with the car on it its about 14.4v. That's why they give you the two different ratings. Its going to matter on what type of box you put it in and how big. If you look at your sub manual it will probably give you recommened box sizes and watts. A small sealed inclusure can handle more watts than a ported bigger box.

And you can over power a sub and not blow it, the way to do it is after you have everything hooked up turn the gain on your amp to 0 so no sound is coming out. Turn your radio up to the max that it can handle and then start turning the gain on your amp up till the sub starts clipping (or sounding bad). Then turn the gain down alittle bit. That way you know that even if you turn your radio up to the max you aren't hurting the sub.

a couple of things to look for, bad ground, no sound coming into the amp, no sound coming out of the amp, make sure thier is power going into the amp and make sure the remote wire is live to turn on the amp.

To check the remote wire, just jumper the remote wire to the power wire on the amp. If the lights are on then check the rca's coming in to the amp and make sure they have a source. I usually just hook a walk man up to the amp for testing and then make sure you subs are connected and working. Also maybe a setting on the amp itself, not sure what amp you have by try turning the cross over's off so all frequency's come through. Turn the gain up. Its just a matter of process of elimination, check each thing and eventually you will find it.
