Sup all.

I dont know much about boost but I was thinking the other day and its probably a really stupid question but can DOHC VTEC cause boost spikes or give different amounts of boost when it kicks in at different times?

I know its not a problem (if it even is) with SOHC VTEC but with DOHC VTEC, it can be a 30hp increase and thats a lot of extra exhaust fumes that can make the turbo spool up faster in a split second.

Soooo can it??? I know people run it all the time im just curious.

i think it depends on the tuning as well..you can have so much air coming in but if the ecu is telling the injectors to only send out a certain amount of cc's..you'll just run lean
and also thats why turbo sizing is so important, a big size turbo for a single might be a regular size for a dual.
thats why you'll see singles with td04's or t3/t4's with a small exhaust versus the dohcs running t3/t4 right off the back

usually the boost spike is caused by poor manifold design, or plain old wastegate issues. It dosent matter if your in vtec or not, that spring should open at a certain psi.

I believe there are a few boost controllers or piggy backs that work with / control vtec.

I'm pretty sure Greddy has one...
