Dohc ZC Coupe - For Boost

Hey there. Pretty new to forum but not the Honda scene ( 95 GSR ). First off Lil info about me.. I had a few performance oriented cars before and pretty familiar with boosting and spraying ( Nos - foxbody , 20g GSX and S/C E30 . Im nowhere near the perfect mechanic and that is my main reason for being on forums ( other than the fact that theres really nice and fun people around ) Im a tech student Here at Western Tech ( El Paso ) majoring on Performance/Tuning. As i mentioned i used to have a 95 GSR with b16a2 swap , i wanted to boost but never completed. :/ So as opportunities came by i bought a properly clean and unabused 94 Civic Coupe with a d15 that is not running. Didn't really wanna go through the trouble of fixing it since i have some reasonable power goals. As i was looking for swaps , my friend at school ( him and his brother are honda freaks been building and swapping few engines ) mentioned that they have a Dohc ZC laying around ( in pieces ) . Story behind it was that his brother was originally building it and lost interest after a B swap. Few missing parts include rods, pistons , bearings , dizzy and hopefully not but probably few nuts and bolts and pieces here and there. Since my power goals are pretty high ( shooting for 300whp ) and that i have the motor apart in pieces im going to use stronger parts and make it a reliable , pump gas cruiser with drag and autox days for fun every now and than. So enough talk and lets get to the pics.

The car for the swap ( 95 Civic Dx 5spd )

ZC DOHC; ( in pieces :P )

Keep in mind im still a student so ill need time and resources to pull this thing together , im not like some of you guys here that can pull a motor , build it and put it back in on a weekend ( ur crazy badasses ) XD Im estimating i will be driving her in 2-3 months of time. Take her to school , get her dynoed/ tuned and finished off . Feel free to make any comments or give me some wise advice ( especially if you are experienced with ZC's .

Going to take the Head and block to a friend at a machining shop today for P&P and mill on the head and hot tank and notch the block and girdle . Thinking about going with Supertech 10.5 pistons ( 9.5 with ZC i think ) and eagle H beams for my power goals does this setup seem solid for 300-350whp?

Yeah, I just wouldn't boost a DOHC d series. Those heads don't grow on trees like single slammers do.

Can you explain why you wouldn't build a dohc d ? Is the only reason because they are rare? If so i dont really care i got the whole thing for 150 bucks and IF something goes wrong with the head ill just put the bottom end ( parts ) in another D along with all my turbo parts. Theres many threads with boosted ZC's and many of them say/prove the head is good for over 400whp so are the sleeves. I think for my power goals of 300whp it should be fine...

I'm not saying it wont make power, it was just about the rarity and collecting parts for repair etc. If you got it for really cheap then f**k it I guess.

Haha yup . that is actually one of the reasons . I know i could have just done a LS swap and low boost and get it over with but, i don't really like the easy way and i like being different. Thats the main reason for me getting a coupe instead of a hatch .. Everyone and their mother has one FFS! lol

Well so at the end i found a good deal on a wrecked integra ls with good b18b and 5 speed tranny i will be putting that over to my car. Do you guys know if my leftover b series mounts from my dc2 teggy will fit the civic for this swap ? Thanks.
