im moving...plan to to drive my civic from bay area to OC (LA) in about a week or so. from google map, it gonna take me like 6 hrs (2 hr+ more on traffic), about 390 miles total. im kinda worry about the gas (not a clue about the route that im going...it's my first time taking the highway 5). im not planning to stop on the way (want to get to my destination ASAP). i wonder if a full tank of gas would last.

thanks

One tank would be cutting it very close, assuming your engine has recently been tuned up and you don't drive faster than 65mph. But I wouldn't risk it because there is almost a guarantee of getting stuck for quite a while in LA traffic.

Fill up your tank and reset the trip. Drive til empty and see if if your trip was more than 390. If not, schedule a stop. I only get about 250 miles a tank but I also
drive in the city and live where winter fuel is used.

He is a drug smuggler that's why he does not want to make any stops.

So I should get banned for that?
Simple jokes sorry you couldn't figure it out, i suppose my humor is to dry for this thread.

I made it from san jose to la in 1 tank of gas and i even had enough to cruise around for about an hr.

It all depends on what time you decide to depart because if you leave the bay area say...11pm you can beat their early morning traffic. OR! you can leave at say. 2am and get there 9am-10am and no traffic =)

oh, youd be surprised

your gonna have to fill up. i drove my Si down there twice, both times i had to stop right there before the grapevine and get gas. idk if its because the high rpms of the Si tranny and i was doing 80 all the way there. you might make it if you have an HX and drive like 60 mph all the way there lol

theres a lot of hills on 5, plus the grapevine is gonna kill your mileage, so stop before there if you do. not to mention all the accelerating/slowing down because big rigs will sometime take up both lanes passing each other.

I personally don't even like to run my engine with less than a quarter of a tank left, but then again im a freak when it comes to my car.

Good luck with the trip!
