Hey guys Im puzzled. Installed a new head unit in the Civic today and now have no sound at all from either front or back speakers on the drivers side. I used a wire harness I've double checked all joints... Im at a loss. I can't figure out what could of happened? Any ideas at all would be greatly helpful. Thanks

do you have factory speakers? its possible that it blew them out.
What you can do is take out the radio head, leave it hooked up, and run a line straight from the radio to the speaker. if it works then you know that somehow its a wiring issue. If it doesn't work that means either your radio head is faulty, or the speaker is blown.

Yea I will try that this weekend. I replaced all the speakers last month. Im thinking it has to be the stereo but you never know. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks

I assumed you used wire harness adapter? If so unplug it and plug back in the factory or other radio and see if the speakers play.

Was this radio brand new? not used or off a friend? It could be a bad radio.

Last thought you do not have an amp do you?

Ok so after so investigation there is apparently a wiring problem. The unit is new as well as the wiring adapter. The car hasn't had a radio in it in about six months. I ran a new wire straight from the stereo to my back speaker. Works fine. So now I have to find the cut in the wires that have shorted the front and rear speakers on that side of the car. And on further checking also knocked out my rear defrost. All fuses are good. Does anyone know the path of these wires. I would think the cut would have to be before the split where the front speakers break off. Searched a while under the dash with no luck. So for now I hid my wire under the carpet and I once again have good tunes. It will drive me crazy untill I find the real problem though.

You might be better and easier to by pass the harness just for the speakers that do not work and run new wires to just those speakers, instead of tracing the factory wires. For the back just run them down the drivers side kick panel along to the back bhind the seat up the rear shelf. The front there is a a boot I would trace the wires coming out the fender side and color match the the speaker wires and then tap off those run the wires through the car to the deck.

Yea actually just finished that up. Now everything is working as far as the stereo goes. I still would like to get the rear defrost fixed.
