so i have a 12" Audiobahn dual voice coil sub and i have a normal 600 watt amp on it, well it keeps cutting off and everyone tells me that amp aint right for the sub.....what kind of amp do u need for a dual voice coil sub???
you might not need to get a new amp how many ohms are the voice coils and how do u have them wired up.civic_tuner_182 said:so i have a 12" Audiobahn dual voice coil sub and i have a normal 600 watt amp on it, well it keeps cutting off and everyone tells me that amp aint right for the sub.....what kind of amp do u need for a dual voice coil sub???
whats the impedance of each voice coil? it should likely be dual 4 ohm voice coil or suchcivic_tuner_182 said:the voice coils on the sub, one is running to the place on the box where the wire attaches to the metal and then another wire is running to the other voice coil of the sub....
not bridged, tried gain turned all the way down, yes its in the trunk, and im not sure about gauge of wire but its from an amp hook up kit, so thats not the problemMySiIzFaster said:Do you have that amp bridged?
Did you turn down the gain a little bit and see if that stops it from tripping its protection?
Do you have adequete airflow around the amp? (not under your seat)
What size wire is your power lead?
Ground?
that would prolly f*** up the sub so i wouldnt try that....actually see how its only running to one channel...well dont do that run it bridged at 8 ohms should give u more power then just running it to one channel...UNTIL u get another 4 ohm dvc subMySiIzFaster said:What would he get if he ran it 2 channels, each hooked up to a different VC? For some reason, its just not adding up today... lol
