The problem is the car was an automatic when i bout it so i dont know which wiring harness to use for it? I used the original one, had to see if it ran, and it did but certain things dnt quite wrk (speedometer etc.) Anyone know what wiring harness is required for this job?

So you have a '97 Civic coupe (which trim) that's automatic and want to swap in a B20B with its manual tranny? Is that correct?

Yes i believe its a dx no sunroof but has power windows n locks. Previous owner did a bunch of half ass work to it like installed a 2000 civic si interior (with sunroof option, foglight option etc).

Ugh! Half-@$$ed Civics are always a headache. More power to you for taking it on and wanting to right it. Please tell me the previous fool didn't install the sunroof holed head liner on a non-sunroof roof. Sorry that I cant be of help with the motor swap issue. All I can suggest is to research it because any D to B swap you can think of has been done and written about plenty of times. Do you already have the engine, pedals, ECU, wiring, manual cluster, or anything needed?

I hope you dont mind I made your title more specific to what help you need so you get more helpful interest. We get enough "help" threads too often that have made a lot of people numb to the word. Keep it in mind for your own sake in the future ;)

So the engine isnt in yet? That'll make it alot easier to have the internals handled. Port & polish the cylinders, upgrade the pistons & rings, shave the block for higher compression, rebuild the head; what am I missing, experts?

If it's a good engine and is just going to be a daily then just do a basic once over (whatever gaskets, waterpump, leakdown test, tune up) and throw it in there.
