E-Brake handle

Hey guys, just found out my girl got a bunch of stuff for me for fathers day, so far the e-brake and pedals came in the mail, the thing is I thought the e-brake just slid over the one that's on there, so talked to my friends and they said, you have to cut the e-brake, or if it's not molded to the car it's self, you can take off the center console and put it on, did anyone else have to cut the e-brake to get the new handle on? And yes I know you don't cut the e-brake off, I mean cut the plastic stuff covering the metal.

Dosn't anyone have a aftermarket e-brake handle?

Vice grips and a towel. Place towel on the old ebrake handle, then stick the vice grips over the towel, ensure there is a firm grip. Now twist and pull out the ebrake handle. It may take a few times of tugging... or hours, just depends on how lucky you are.
